Graduate Financial Aid Information
Welcome! The information on this page applies to both prospective and current Graduate Students. For specific inquiries, please contact the Office of Financial Aid directly.
Cost & Pay
Tuition is due at the time of registration. If you are receiving financial aid, registration is contingent upon having completed a FAFSA form prior to registration. All third party authorizations (including employee letters) must be submitted to the Bursar’s Office, Harkins Hall, Room 400 within 48 hours of online registration. If registering in person, a copy of the letter must be submitted at the time of registration.
Loan Options
Federal student loans are available to graduate students by filing the FAFSA form. Federal loans can be a helpful resource for financing your education, but it’s important to borrow wisely. Federal loans generally offer better borrower protections and interest rates than private loans; however, the government limits how much a student can borrow. Private educational loans are also an option to meet your educational costs. Be sure to exhaust federal loan options before considering private loans, as federal loans generally offer better borrower protections.
Federal Loans
The unsubsidized federal student loan is available to graduate level students. You must file the FAFSA each year you are enrolled to be eligible for this loan. You can borrow up to $20,500 or up to the cost of attendance for your program, minus whatever other resources you may be receiving (scholarships, tuition benefits, etc.). Read more about the unsubsidized loan program here.

Your completed FAFSA is due 6 weeks prior to registration
Applying for aid Summer 2026, Fall 2026 or Spring 2027? FAFSA opens 10/1/2025
Post-FAFSA Submission
Once your FAFSA has been submitted and processed and the U.S. Department of Education has sent you a Student Aid Report (SAR) please read the comment section very carefully. If there is an issue with the application (i.e. missing signature, citizenship confirmation) it will be outlined in this section and these issues must too be resolved in order to determine a student’s eligibility.
Private Loans
A private loan is an option if you have exhausted your federal loan options. Private loans are offered by many banks and lenders. We review and compare loan programs every year and update the Suggested Lender List annually with the loan programs that offer the best terms for our student borrowers. You are not limited to using lenders on the Suggested Lender List, you can use any lender you wish, and we will work with the lender to process your loan. We encourage you to research your borrowing options carefully and to fully understand the terms and conditions of the loan program you choose. Explore the Suggested Lender List below.
Graduate Assistantships
Graduate Assistantships are academic awards that provide financial assistance for graduate students. GAs are expected to average no more than 20 hours of work per week in their position and maintain good academic standing (≥ 3.0 GPA). GA’s are not permitted to work remotely.
Prospective students interested in Graduate Assistantship for Summer or Fall entry are required to submit a completed application by February 15 in order to be considered. Before exploring available Graduate Assistantships, students must be accepted into a full-time graduate program. Part-time programs and certificates are ineligible for Graduate Assistantships.
